Rugby practis

Rugby practice "Come on come on it's our turn," I shouted. Now let's have some fun like the others. When we ran onto the field I could see everyone running around and kicking the ball. We had a game of ball rush and I thought I was going to get smashed to the ground by an Otago rugby player. But they went easy on us because we aren't like them. We play in under 9s, under11s and under 13s. I got tackled by a very chubby boy because I was one of the last people on the start line and they were all ganging up on me. I could feel sweat dripping down my face like if I tipped a glass of water on myself.I got tackled again but this time it was by one of the Otago players and all I could taste was grass,and dirt was on my face and I started coughing. When the practice was finished we went to the canteen beside the rugby field and bought some chips.IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!

Best Christmas

It was the big day.Christmas was here. When we woke up I could see heaps of presents just waiting there for me to open them up. When we started our journey to Lake Wakatipu we crossed many little towns. The truck started over heating so we had to stop. When we stopped I asked “Can we have an ice~ cream?” Dad explained “ Wait until we get to camp.” Finally the long journey was over, but we still had to set up camp. I told Mum, Dad and Jay that was BORING! A while later I asked “ Can we go for a swim?” Dad replied “Yes, but don't go near the fast current.” “Okay.” When I went into the water I saw a fish narrowly missing my face. As we hopped out of the water we asked “Can we go fishing?” “Yes you can.” When we cast the rod into the water we caught 2 brown trout and 1 rainbow trout. Once we finished fishing at 10 pm (when we go on trips to places we stay up quite late). The next day we got up bright and early.It was a day when we relax and sit down on our squishy chiars and talk about all the cool times we’ve had as a family. But as the day passed it was time to hop to bed and go to sleep.I could hear possums scratching the trees and once I thought that we left the tent door open and a possum, or a bunny came inside, but luckily it was only the wind blowing against the tent. The next day was the day that we had to pack up the tent and go home, I was disappointed when we left. It was the best christmas ever.

Earthquake

We were sleeping but then BANG! BANG! CRASH! CRASH! I woke up with a thump my mum rushed into my brothers room and dad ran as fast as a ROCKET! to my room {I think I’m awake now} I said ‘’Well that sue was an earthquake I'm wide awake ‘’ complained dad. It was shaky so hard that I keep on falling over like a newborn lamb it was that hard to stand up! I think I needed to go on a wheel chair.

South Otago Cross Country

Only some of us got picked for south Otago cross country and it is really hard but i managed to get 7th place Toby came 16th and Lanie came  15th

School 150 Years Ago

150 years ago the classrooms were different. They had a fireplace, but that’s not all because you had a hand inspections and not fun P.E. So do you want to go back in the olden day school? Well I don't and I will tell you why. Firstly it was very strict because if you had messy handwriting or not finished you would get the cane or the strap that would hurt. There were more male teachers than female teachers because male teachers could be more strict than female teachers. You weren’t allowed talk at all otherwise you would either get the cane or the strap. That’s a big punishment. When you get a punishment it could have been from the principal or your teacher. Also, the rules were different because the children weren’t allowed to get out of their seats, only if the teachers said that they could. You weren’t allowed to sniff or speak. That would have been terrible. After morning tea and lunch time they had to line up and wait for their teacher. They couldn’t just run inside and sit at their desk and wait for their teacher there, otherwise they would get the cane of the strap. Next, it was very boring back then because, you manly did boring work like writing pretty much all day [well it felt like it] and handwriting. 150 years ago P.E was only stretches. It would have been boring if they did different stretches everyday. Next 150 years ago the classroom didn’t have any colorful pictures like we do now. But that’s not all they didn’t have an active board, painting and more familiar stuff. The classroom only had one fire to heat the whole classroom. And they had a black board instead of an active-board They didn’t even have any computers and no lights which would have made it really hard to see. Did you hear what I said? Well I hope you did because it was really HARD!! They had really boring, short P.E. So do you want to go back to school in the olden days? Well, I don’t. It was so boring 150 years ago.

This Years Speach

Commonwealth games, Parliament, School buildings - all around the world we see our New Zealand flag flying proudly. We’ve had this flag since forever. People have always associated this flag with New Zealand, and it’s an important part of who we are as a country. Some people think we should change the flag to a silver fern, but I believe we should keep the same flag we have always had. If the NZ flag changes it means thats the second time its been changed.Our flag has been the same for 102 years. And people who visit New Zealand will be confused because they wouldn't know what country it is. Plus nothing else suits the nz flag because if they change it to a silver fern it will only support sport not all the other things that make our country special. To further support my speech the nz flag is part of our history, right back when it was designed. For example, the soldiers who fought for nz stood proudly under the nz flag after the world wars one and two. How would the soldiers feel if we change the New Zealand flag now? I think they'll feel very disappointed. Thirdly the union jack links us back to our connection with England and being part of the commonwealth.We’re not the only country that has the union jack, there are others too like Fiji,Australia and Tuvalu and so many more! we should be proud that were linked to the commonwealth. Finally other flags that they have suggested seem very complicated to make, like the silver fern. Whats wrong with keeping the same flag? Why cant we just keep it? It’s fine how it is. WHY DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE FLAG? Well you need to learn not to change any of the NZ property especially the NZ flag.Remember its part of our history and it links NZ back to the Commonwealth.

Three Billy Goats Gruff

Have you heard of the Three Billy Goats Gruff? Have you considered the right and wrong? Well I have. The three billy goats clearly shouldn't have crossed the bridge. Firstly, the bridge was clearly the trolls property and plus they needed permission to cross the bridge. They shouldn't have just demanded to cross the bridge and I think they should have been punished big time. What if that was your property? What would you feel like? Secondly, the goats were so mean that they almost killed the troll. The three goats were probably thinking very mean things in their heads, like he’s fat, and so many more. In addition, they were pretty much the trolls only hope to eat, unlike the three goats. They can eat heaps of grass (imagine a troll eating grass. I’d pay to watch this one). I reckon the three goats shouldn't have crossed the bridge because it was the troll’s property. They should definitely be punished by doing chores. By Ryan

Electronic Devices

Electronic devices are Ipad,Iphone,xbox and psp. They are things that you can do stuff on that are fun . Las students should definitely allowed to bring electronic devices to school. firstly we can play learning games on it like reading games. Which is still learning reading games and all the stuff like that. Secondly you can search your gmail like you can on the computers. Thats why I think that Lawrence Area school students should bring them to school. Finally they are fun for kids to play with.Because they have fun games on them. Kids can share them and play good games like that. you can play learning games like that. You can play learning games like reading games you can search your gmail like on the computer. They are fun for kids to play with. Las students should have electronic devices.

Making goup was one of the activities for our science and it was really fun.

Four Wheel driving

We’re the boy smurfs gang and we are big fans of four wheel driving but we heard this news on the radio, “There's vampires and murderers.” “OH NO!” we screamed to the radio. Hey where did the vampires and murderers appear from? Where did you say that they came from? OUT OF THE TREES! What's going to happen? Why are they jumping out so quickly! “I’ll blow your lights out big, fat, hideous looking vampire or would you rather put your hands in the air before I blow your head off with a bazooka.’’ “OH NO!!” we all shouted together. “We’re 600 km away, what should we do? We will ring the helicopter just in case hopefully they are here in two hours but if they are not here in two hours we will have to run for our lives.” “What if we don't make it?” “We will die.” I thought that was pretty obvious because the murderers have swords and the vampires have sharp, sharp teeth. “OH NO! Here it goes!” “We’re stuck.” The Boy smurfs were in a big mud pool and we couldn't get out so we had to run and try and dodge them because we didn't want to put up with a fight because… “RUN RUN!! you guys because...because I don’t know what to say... just RUN! Hurry up we can’t wait until they kill us because otherwise we can’t go four wheel driving again and that would be terrible.So we got to man up!” “CHARGE NOW!!! and use your superpowers but if they don’t work we will have to use plan B, run around them but don't go too close to the trees because that’s where they came out of which is annoying!” “CHARGE!!! Rrrr come on you guys cos if you don’t get out of the truck you will die. So hurry up so we can get there in time for the helicopter. (If he comes) We will have to use our powers to get out of this because they have got special weapons that could kill us if we don't hurry up and use our powers. So do you want to die? Yay they helicopter finally arrived. “Run, run boy smurfs (hurry up i'm not here all day). “It’s really fast you know because it got here in 1 hour.” “That’s still pretty long because 1 hour is from here to, to,to where?” “I don't know! Come on we will just hop in the helicopter.” “Where is the helicopter?” “Right there in front of you! Are you blind or something? I think we learnt our lesson to go there because we can’t even get back there to get our truck out of the mud pool.

Hector Dolphins

Hector Dolphins are only found in New Zealand which means that they are native to our country.

Hector dolphins have rounded fins and they are mammals. Hector Dolphins can be black,grey and white.They have a breathing hole which looks like a deep hole and their teeth are also sharp.Hector Dolphins are quite small because they are only about two metres long.

Hector Dolphins like to hang around certain places around the North Island and the South Island. But they don't like playing in the open ocean - they only like the bays. They can be found in the Catlins not too far from Lawrence.

They like to eat mullet,fish,crabs,squid and other small sea creatures that go past. When they try and find their food they  try and sense it.

Hector Dolphins have one baby every two to three years and that's pretty sad because that means we don't have many left in the world.They like to chatter and play in the bay,muck around and go close to people.They like to swim in groups of two to twelve so most of them survive.When they are born they are about 50 centimeter long and they swim with their mum so they don’t get lost in the sea.Hector Dolphins like to swim around kayaks and boats because there are people on them.They can only live up to 15 to 18 years old and that is pretty sad that they only live that long because there are only 110 left in the world.

There are only that many Hector Dolphins because they keep on getting caught in the nets from the fishing boats when they come quite close to the shore and they breath air like us people.they drown so easily without much air.

When a dolphin is caught in a net it can't come up to the surface.Thousands of NZ people are cleaning the environment so when the tide comes in it doesn't wash all the rubbish out to sea and kill the Hector Dolphins because sometimes they eat the rubbish.

Last Years Speech

Playful , boring, exciting. Computers are the fun ones and teachers are the boring ones. Computers are exciting too. Computers do all of the things you want them to do like maths, reading and fun games like rugby. Computers are better than teachers and I’m going to tell you why.

Firstly teachers growl and computers don’t. Teachers growl and it’s hard to learn things when the class  is being silly and  you are working but  you get distracted when a teacher is growling at someone else in the class. Computers don’t really growl at you, and when you make a mistake they just tell you quietly by underlining the word that you didn’t know how to spell or it shows you a red cross. It is cooler  being told you are wrong by a computer than by a teacher because teachers growl loudly sometimes.

Secondly  teachers cost a lot of money to pay because of all the work they do. A computer would be much cheaper because you only have to buy it once and then you have it for the rest of your life. You don’t have to keep paying for it.  But you always have to keep paying teacher’s wages.

Climbing Wall

Harness on. Rope on. All ready to go. I count myself 3, 2, 1. I wonder if I should go up and do it or stay down. I've decided I’ll go up! As I went up I started to slowly creep up. I was nervous at first but then I got used to it. The first time I climb a climbing wall I only went half way up! Then what do you know, I’m at the top. I reached for the red button but I couldn't quite reach so I had to go higher! I finally could reach. I hit it, I leant back and started falling down. It was a big relief when I got back down because I was exhausted! When I caught my breath I said “Can you please clip me on to another one PLEASE!
